To remedy this, I set up an old, cheap non-ac router on dd-wrt on my main floor as way (however range was shorter) but the E8350 which uses the Linksys old

Reset your router back to dd-wrt defaults. Using GUI install this 'EA8500_webrevert.bin' Thanks to LOM for this file! with option to 'Reset to Default Settings'. Give it time to install and it should boot into a Linksys page. If you cannot navigate thru Linksys pages you will need to use a pen to reset from back button.

The guy on eBay said he was just doing a legit update and the power went out but I'm suspicious. I do have some dd-wrt routers(openwrt as well).
